2017-2018 ELLA FELLOW Brittany Paschall featured in news article: Meet the women who fought to free Cyntoia Brown

The case of Cyntoia Brown sparked a debate about young women of color and criminal justice reform in this country. On January 7, 2019 Gov. Bill Haslam of Tennessee granted Cyntoia Brown clemency. These are some of the women who fought to have her released. Among them, is Brittany Paschall, an activist and a 2017-2018 ELLA Fellow.

“The aim was to ensure Cyntoia’s name was continually at the forefront of public discourse and to show Haslam that he would not be able to go on with business as usual unless he did the right thing,” said Brittany Paschall, an active member of the Black Lives Matter movement in Nashville.
