WHAT IS LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS?

Leadership Scholars is a program that encourages students’ curiosity, awareness, and empowerment within education systems through personal educational planning and taking on issues of education justice. Nashers will share experiences, questions, and goals with each other, creating a supportive and fun environment where they will be able to explore and define what it means to be a Leadership Scholar. Throughout the program, Nashers will look at the work of organizations, educators, activists, and students to gain a solutions-based, critical understanding of education justice issues through people doing change work in education. Nashers will discuss education justice issues they feel have impacted, or will impact, their experience and learn about the various college and career pathways to support individual transformation and social change. Our Leadership Scholars will be able to get a head start on applying to college, scholarships, and educational programs along with defining what makes a learning institution the right fit, analyzing the challenges that marginalized groups face in higher education, and defining a “good education” and how you can fight for your right to one!
