GENDER RECRUITMENT POLICY

PLEASE NOTE:
The following policy is for members of our constituency ONLY (young women ages 14-21) and potential applicants to our programs. Please see our Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Hiring Statement for policies with regards to our hiring/employment practices.

GENDER RECRUITMENT POLICY

SNLP stands in solidarity with the trans, gender non-conforming, and intersex communities in fighting gender oppression. We recognize all forms of gender oppression (sexism, heterosexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) as prejudice, ignorance and a fear of difference. We do not believe gender is easily defined, fixed, or binary and believe that forced gender norms hurt us all. We acknowledge that people are born a biological sex (male, female, intersex), but we believe that genders should be self-identified and self-determined.

We are a community that joins together to examine and address issues of leadership, oppression, and social justice from the point-of-view of girls and young women.

Therefore, any young person who self-identifies as female, girl, or woman is encouraged to apply to any SNLP program or service regardless of biological sex, trans identity, gender expression or appearance.   Further, SNLP will work with all participants to create an atmosphere at SNLP that supports and nurtures the acceptance of this policy.
