SNLP welcomes trans and gender nonconforming young people to participate in our programs. We understand that gender is expansive and self determined. We strive in our work to celebrate, explore, question, grapple with, redefine, and reimagine notions of and our relationship to girlhood and womanhood.
We recognize the negative impacts of sexism in our history and the continued devaluing of women and girls’ labor and leadership, which is why we aim to uplift the leadership of women throughout our organization. We are a community of cis women, trans, and gender nonconforming individuals, who are actively and critically engaged with the frameworks of intersectional feminism to guide our approach to what we do.
We thank Assata’s Daughters, Audre Lorde Project, and Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls for inspiring these words.
