COMMUNITY
ACTION PLACEMENTS
After a student has gone through the intensive summer program,
she is placed in a progressive community organization that meets
her interests and needs. She “interns" at the organization
for approximately 8 months from mid-October through mid-May.
A critical aspect of CAP is examining the structure and leadership
of the organization, interviewing the staff and constituents,
and developing a "report" on the organization. During
this time, SNLP provides: curricular support, close oversight
on the placements, as well as personal check-ins every month.
The young women are paid for their work at the organizations
by SNLP. CAP is a skill development, service learning, and leadership-training
program.
